John of God and His Story

John of God, named by the Brazilians with much love and gratitude, is a humble man who prefers to be referred to as the Medium Joao. Joao was born in 1942 in Goias, Brazil into much poverty and hardship. After grade two, Joao left school to learn and work as a tailor to help provide for his family. Even at that young age, Joao displayed remarkable clairvoyant abilities, frequently predicting local and world events before they occurred or were reported in the press.

Painting of King Solomon
At age 16, Joao wandered from town to town looking for work. He was physically exhausted and hungry. He stopped near a stream and was overcome with a vision of a beautiful woman who told him to go to a nearby church in the town of Campo Grande. Received warmly at the church, that was all Joao remembered when he was awakened a few hours later. The church director and others told Joao that King Solomon had used his body and performed miraculous healings and operations. Despite initially protesting that he had simply fainted, many witnesses of the healings convinced him that he had been the medium for the spirit and work of King Solomon.
Joao stayed at the church for several weeks, learning and receiving guidance on the principals of mediumship and spiritism. Joao then emerged with his mission, ready to dedicate his entire life to the healing of others and to never accept payment for his work.
